Burying our heads in the sand

by Willie Walkingstick
Sixty years is not so long ago. It is within the lifetime of people still alive today. But even if it were one hundred years or 200 years, it is not too long ago that we should try to bury its truths in the grave of ancient history.
This country was founded on racism [...]

Walkingstick levels charges on investigation delay

City Councilor, Willie Walkingstick believes the delay in the LaFontaine murder investigation is deliberate, and at a press conference today, he leveled charges against Sheriff Tony Sweet and Vernon Van Bibber, one of Germaine’s leading citizens.

Why Christians Should Oppose Malsanto

The abandonment of sound farming practices for the chemical quick fix has left much of our once-productive land barren and poisoned, has caused cancers and other illnesses, and has left us with poor quality food.

New Poll: Your Feedback Wanted

Washington, DC 2-04

by: fortune cookie (flickr), license: cc-by

We have posted a new poll for potential writers. Although we average about 300 unique visits per day, like most fiction websites we get very little feedback, positive or negative. That means what we do is mostly in the dark. We really, really need some input from readers and writers, so we have installed a new poll plugin, and hope you will take a moment to answer a few questions when you visit.

Our first poll is for potential writers. From the beginning, the purpose of The Germaine Truth has been to foster a community of writers around our fictional town to have fun, hone our craft, and discuss important environmental and social issues between rural and urban people. We have not been very successful, yet, but we aren’t giving up.

Would you consider joining a web community like this if we made the right changes? Please help us out by taking the poll to the right, and leaving more detailed comments below.

Photodropper added to plugins

Are you ready???

Photodropper allows you to search Flickr and drop a Creative-Commons licensed photo right into your post. Your post will include a link to the original photo and license rights. Creative Commons ‘by’ license means you are free to use the photos with your project as long you credit the photographer.

I had to modify the javascript a bit to get it to float left and wrap the text. Until I figure out how to do it, you can’t float the photo to the right.

Update on The Germaine Truth

It has been nearly a year now since we have published any new material. I have been completely immersed in the task of finishing my new trilogy of novels. I am well into the second at this juncture, and my first is being polished up. So, that is going to be my priority for some time.

Patricia is also working on a new novel. The good news for The Germaine Truth fans is that her novel is A Stranger in Town. The novel will be somewhat changed from the chapters we have posted so far on the website, and Patty is unsure of its ultimate destination — website or book publisher.

I will try to be more attentive to keeping everyone up to date, and as soon as possible I want to do some work on The Diary of Little Germaine and begin Dr. Rosa’s story. Check back now and then. We aren’t giving up on this project.

Feed seems to be broken -we’re working on it

Our sitewide feed doesn’t seem to be working correctly, so I have been trying to troubleshoot it for the last few weeks. We hope to begin posting again soon on a regular basis.

Site back up, but no new material yet

After a few weeks down, we have finally fixed a series of website problems. So, The Germaine Truth is back up.

We are still hard at work on my novel Sweetland, and so haven’t added any new material some time now. We hope to get back to it soon.

We’ll be back in the fall

I should have written this some time ago, and have been negligent. Patty and I are hard at work on other writing projects –we are both working on novels– and the little energy we have had for The Germaine Truth has gone into planning. We know that we risk losing readers, but we have decided that we really need to get our other projects finished and out of the way before diving back into TGT.

We’re not sure if we truly have any readers, because we never hear from you. But if you are out ther, have a good remainder of the summer, and we’ll see you in October.
